Admission Policies

FSCD provides programs to participants regardless of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, veteran status, marital status, and sexual orientation as long as the students can meet the academic and technical standards to safely participate in the program.

Age

Students must be 18 years of age or older.

Diving Medical Examination

Applicants must pass an approved Florida School of Commercial Diving medical examination administered by a licensed and qualified physician. Written verification of current tetanus immunization is required.

Educational Requirements

Applicants must furnish evidence of a high school diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) Certificate, or state-approved high school equivalency. Official transcripts should be sent by the issuing institution directly to the Admissions Director.

Evidence of Medical Insurance

All applicants must provide verifiable health insurance coverage.

Proof of Open Water Diver Certification

Applicants for the Public Safety Search and Recovery Course are required to be certified as an open water diver by an approved recreational diver certification agency. Proof of certification should be forwarded to the Admissions Director prior to enrollment.
