Q: How long does the program last?
A: The Florida School of Commercial Diving curriculum meets the requirements of the ADCI Consensus Standards for Commercial Diving and Underwater Operations consisting of a 13 month schedule of once monthly weekend classes, totaling 464 clock hours of instruction, both in and out of the water. Q: How much does it cost?
A: The Commercial Surface Supplied Air (SSA) Diver diploma course is $9000.00 plus application, registration and supply fees. There may be additional costs for a student to obtain equipment and/or an Open Water Diver Certification which is required prior to enrollment. We do not provide this course.
Q: Can I get credit for prior work experience or military training?
A: Yes, you can. You need to provide a transcript of training or certificate. We will verify the training and assign credit if appropriate.
Q: Can I use my GI Bill or Student Loan to pay the tuition? Will you
provide assistance with FAFSA applications?
A: At this time federally sponsored financial aid is not available for this program.
Q: Do you require a high school diploma or GED to enroll?
A: Yes. In addition, you must be 18 years of age, provide proof of valid current health insurance and a completed diving physical, and be able to provide a copy of your Open Water Diver Certification card prior to the initial class session.
Q: What degree will I graduate with?
A: You will have a certificate of Commercial Diver training and you will be eligible to apply for an Entry Level Tender/Diver Commercial Diver Certification card from the Association of Diving Contractors International.
Q: Do you have on-campus housing?
A: The school does not provide housing. Due to our proximity to Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World theme parks and resorts, there are an abundance of short/long term rentals and hotel rooms available year round in the area.
